Is your refrigerator too loud?
If so, don't settle for a white noise machine - remedy the noise your appliance is producing in the first place. If it's due to a failing compressor your fridge might need replaced, but if it's because of a dirt-clogged fan that's an easy fix.
All different kinds of noises can occur, for all sorts of reasons. The first thing to check is if your floor and fridge is sitting level. The legs are adjustable so you can modify the elevation of your fridge on each side. Even if your floors are uneven, you can accommodate with a minor adjustment to avoid any unneeded vibrations on the floor.
If you have neighbors beneath you the noise of the fridge could easily travel downstairs. We recommend you get a noise-cancelling mat to place under your fridge if this is your situation. Even by making sure it's level to the floor, there's no doubt that such an appliance will emit some vibration and noise to the floor below.
Another pesky annoyance is an icemaker that keeps going off. Sometimes it will try to turn on and make ice regularly but never do anything. If this happens to your icemaker, chances are the water valve is closed.
Chances are this valve is in the cupboard under your kitchen sink; open it up and the icemaker should be able to start working properly again. If this isn't the reason, try moving up the arm of the ice sensor or simply power off the icemaker with its switch. Also, it's possible not enough water is making it to your icemaker so check in case the water supply line is leaking anywhere between your fridge and where it enters your house.
Have you ever looked to buy a new fridge and find yourself comparing brands too aggressively? We all do it, but something important to remember is that most manufacturers are owned by one company. A good comparison would be GMC - an auto manufacturing business with many brands in its possession, such as Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and much more. Likewise, you have Whirlpool Corporation which owns brands like Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Inglis and many others. Buying a popular brand often means getting more affordable replacement parts if you ever need to make a repair.
